Local authorities/Housing Associations

Local authorities and housing associations have considerable opportunities resulting from the growing low carbon energy market. Government programmes such as the Feed-in-Tariff offer many opportunities for landlords which may include microgrids with connected local generation.

The deployment of microCHP can create valuable local jobs, reduce fuel poverty and contribute to the local economy, in addition to reducing carbon emissions.

Whilst much of the focus on Feed-in-Tariffs has been through the deployment of PV, the benefits of microCHP in contributing to the decarbonisation of the UK’s electricity grid has not been overlooked, with continuing support for microCHP as a demand side measure which deals with the potential future increase in electricity demand created by heat pumps.
